I Did It Myway winning at Miami Valley Raceway

I Did It Myway got the jump on stablemate Gem Quality to top a 1-2 finish for trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. in the $49,315 Open Pace at Miami Valley Raceway on Sunday, Feb. 22.

Leaving from post two, I Did It Myway and Jeremy Smith tucked in fifth as the favourite Better Is Nice (Tyler Smith) launched to the front in a :27 opening panel. As they moved towards the half in :56, Rose Run Zane (Austin Hanners) pulled first-over bringing along I Did It Myway into a second-over trip. As they passed the three-quarters in 1:24.1, I Did It Myway went three-wide and circled the leaders to open up an easy three-length lead by the head of the stretch. From there, I Did It Myway cruised home to a two-length victory while stablemate Gem Quality closed for second. Alta Revelry N (Trevor Smith) finished third.

I Did It Myway earned his second win of the year in six starts and his 39th career tally, pushing his career earnings to $1,642,067.

The seven-year-old son of Captaintreacherous out of Flyme To The Moon is owned by Delaware's David Hamm Evm Racing and Glenn Phillips.

Trainer Adam Short made a few trips to the winner's circle, picking up three wins in the claiming ranks with Burnham Boy N, Alwaysonetwomany A and General Idea.
