Blazing Home N Circles Field In Saratoga Open
Blazing Home N put the swoop to the group for his second straight win in the $22,603 Winners Over/Open Handicap Pace on Saturday, Feb. 14 at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
Owner-trainer Larry Stalbaum piloted Blazing Home N and was content to get away last in the seven-horse Open, a race that produced first-half fractions of :27.1 and :56.1. The 7-5 favourite methodically moved up behind Frisco Bay N (Matt Athearn) en route to three-quarters in 1:24.4, and after the leader began to tire, Blazing Home N made his move and proved true to his name, closing sharply in the stretch to win by a half-length in 1:54.1. Vanderbilt N (Ron Cushing) sat the pocket behind the tiring pacesetter before shaking free late to come on to be second while Rebellious (Chris Long) closed to finish third.
Blazing Home N, a six-figure earner in 2025, has already recorded four wins this season in six starts, including a 1:54.4 Saratoga Open score last week. He registered a pair of victories in the Northfield Park Open in January and followed those scores up with back-to-back tallies in the local Open. The seven-year-old son of Rock N Roll Heaven-Capture My Heart is 24-for-76 lifetime. He paid $4.86 to win.
Melissa Beckwith topped the trainers on the 12-race card with three wins. Her winners were Huntanover ($2.10), Heisman Player ($5.06) and Tuffenuftowearpink ($3.32). Beckwith has won 11 of her 25 starts in 2026.
Live racing continues on Sunday at Saratoga with a matinee that starts at noon.
