Oh Look Magic Repeats In Miami Valley Open
Oh Look Magic continued his winning ways on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Miami Valley Raceway, going wire-to-wire in the $49,315 Open Handicap Trot for his seventh victory in his last nine starts.
Starting from his assigned post seven, 1-5 favourite Oh Look Magic moved easily to the front in a :28.3 first split. The field stayed single file past the half in :57.2, and as they moved onto the backstretch, Chris Page gave the word and Oh Look Magic quickly scooted away from his opponents. Abbey D (Luke Hanners) pulled first-over from fourth nearing three-quarters in 1:25.3 but never came close to challenging for the lead, instead entering a battle for second with pocket-sitter Sayinwhatimthinkin (Trevor Smith). From the final turn to the wire, Oh Look Magic was under wraps and cruised home to win by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:53.3. Sayinwhatimthinkin held on for second, and Abbey D was third.
The win was the third in four starts at Miami Valley this year for Oh Look Magic as the six-year-old son of Lookslikeachpndale-Miami Magic continues to dominate the Open ranks. The gelding, now 28-for-89 lifetime, is trained by Ron Burke and owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. He paid $2.40 to win.
Drivers Brett Miller and Page each recorded a grand slam on the card. Burke had a training double.
Miami Valley closes out its racing week Thursday night with a first post time of 4 p.m.
