Hall Of Fame Accepting Legend Nominations

The Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame is now accepting Class of 2026 nominations for the Legend category.

The Legend category of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame was originally started as a special four-year millennium project to honour people and horses whose accomplishments and feats occurred during the foundational years of horse racing in Canada. These people and horses made unique contributions to Canadian horse racing and include such individuals as Modesty, a military horse who raced on the Plains of Abraham in 1767, Elizabeth Arden Graham, Dan Patch and Man o’War and E. King Dodds.

Following that initial four-year project, it was determined there were still many who deserved to be honoured for their role in the early development of Canadian horse racing and, as a result, entries into the Legend category continue to be added.

The Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for individuals who meet the following criteria for induction consideration as Legends:

  • Primary career/impact on racing took place a minimum of 50 years prior to nomination.
  • Canadians who have excelled at home or on the international stage.
  • Those from elsewhere who have had a significant impact on Canadian racing.
  • Individuals who would be considered unsung heroes or trailblazers within the sport.
  • Nominees can be either horses or people.

To submit a nomination, complete the nomination form available on the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame website. The deadline for submission for the Legend category is Monday, March 9 at 5 p.m. For additional information, or to obtain a PDF version of the nomination form, contact [email protected].

As a reminder, nominations for all other horse and people categories of induction close on Feb. 20.

Any questions should be directed to [email protected] or 416-417-9404.
