Oh Look Magic Back To Best In Miami Valley Open
After a pair of place finishes, Oh Look Magic returned to his winning ways in the featured $48,649 Open Handicap Trot at Miami Valley Raceway on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
Oh Look Magic left alertly from post five in the five-horse field as a duel formed to his inside between Sayinwhatimthinkin (Trevor Smith) and Pizzelle (David Miller). Chris Page decided to take back and drop in third with Oh Look Magic as Sayinwhatimthinkin won the early battle to the quarter in a sharp :27.3, with Pizzelle finally settling in second.
Oh Look Magic then edged out from third and marched to the leader's side as they reached the half in :56.3. Oh Look Magic pressed on up the backside, pulling ahead by 2-1/2 lengths at three-quarters in 1:24.3, and from there he vanished from the pack and reached the finish line 3-1/4 lengths in front in 1:53. S I P (Brett Miller) rallied from last to be second. Triathlon As (Jeremy Smith) hung on for third.
The winning six-year-old gelded son of Lookslikeachpndale-Miami Magic is on quite a run. Oh Look Magic made 32 starts in 2025, only one of which came below the Open ranks, and he finished the season with 12 wins. Ten of those came in his last 12 starts of the year, and he has won 12 of his last 16 outings, including two separate five-race winning streaks. He now has 27 lifetime wins with 60 top-three finishes in 88 lifetime starts. The gelding is trained by Ron Burke and owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. He paid $2.60 to win.
Continuing his hot streak, "the Buckeye" David Miller led all drivers with four wins on the 14-race card, bringing him to 14 victories for the week with one card remaining. He is rapidly closing in on becoming the all-time leader in driving earnings, looking to surpass John Campbell, who sits at $299,892,141. Miller is just $85,254 back after Wednesday's card.
Jeremy Smith and Tyler Smith each had three wins, and Chris Page recorded a double. Elson Miller finished with two training wins.
