Bee Two Bee Extends Streak In CDP Finale

Veteran pacer Bee Two Bee continued to dominate on the final day of the winter meet at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, notching his seventh straight win in the $5,100 Preferred Handicap Pace on Saturday, Jan. 31.

The Sunshine Beach-Bee Fullof Steinam stallion went to front and cut the fractions of :28.4, :58.1, and 1:27.1. He pulled away from pocket-sitter Malignity (Paul Langille) down the stretch to win by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:55.2 with Jason Hughes in the bike for trainer Ashley Gamester and owners Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown, P.E.I. and Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge P.E.I. Malignity was second-best, followed by T H Boomtown (Gilles Barrieau). The victory was the seventh straight for Bee Two Bee ($2.10). The nine-year-old is now 48-for-181 lifetime with earnings of $562,227.

Hughes and Gamester also won the ninth race with Laughagain Hanover ($5.70) in 2:01.2.

Trainer Jennifer Doyle tripled on the 12-race card. She partnered with driver Ken Murphy for victories with Tenacious Ted ($3.50) in 2:00.2 and Shake N Blake ($14.30) in 1:58.2, and Drew Campbell completed the trio of winners with Sweet Molly ($3.70) in 1:59. Doyle is seven-for-32 to start the season 

The Sports Desk ($3.20) fended off Doctor Grenfell (Ken Murphy) in the final dash of the winter meet with a 1:59.2 win for driver Hughes and trainer Ron Matheson in Race 12. Blood Money ($2.50), driven by Gilles Barrieau, was another Matheson-trained winner in 1:57.3 in Race 5.

Barrieau made three trips to the winner's circle as Buddysnvirgins ($7.50) won the opener from the Darrell Neill barn in 2:00.3 and Mimosa On The Key ($4.20) scored in 2:02.2 in the third race for trainer Mike Dowling.
