Bee Two Bee Seeks Seven Straight In CDP Preferred

Bee Two Bee

Top-class pacing action takes centre stage on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park for the final card of the Winter Meet.

A pair of featured events is highlighted by the $5,100 Preferred Pace in Race 11 with Bee Two Bee in search of his seventh consecutive victory.

The Preferred Pace brings together a compact but high-quality group, headlined by Bee Two Bee from post five. The nine-year-old son of Sunshine Beach-Bee Fullof Steinam has been razor sharp with six victories in a row at Charlottetown, and the stallion has shown the ability to dominate both on the front and from off the pace. Jason Hughes will drive for trainer Ashley Gamester and owners Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. and Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown, P.E.I.

The Post Time Picks leans his way.

"Bee Two Bee has reeled off six straight victories, and his last three wins have been front-end missions. In this compact field of five, Hughes should be able to get to the front uncontested, so I’m betting they cruise to their seventh consecutive win."

T H Boomtown is a major threat from post four with Gilles Barrieau aboard for trainer Ron Matheson and owners Dr. Don Ling and Wayne MacDougall of Stratford, P.E.I. The five-year-old Captain Crunch-Ally Elizabeth gelding has been consistent at the Preferred level late in the meet. Captainofrocknroll, from post three, adds further depth to the field with Ken Murphy driving for trainer Jennifer Doyle of Stratford, who shares ownership with Max Webster Stable of Inverness, N.S. The eight-year-old son of Captaintreacherous-Rock N Roll Xample has raced well in two top-level assignments since coming to Canada.

Also in the mix is Brigus, leaving from the rail for trainer Nicholas Oakes with Adam Merner driving, while Malignity rounds out the field from post two for Paul Langille, who handles both the training and driving duties.

The Fillies and Mares PEISHOA Pace in the seventh race carries a $4,200 purse and features a deep and evenly matched lineup of distaffs.

Lady Devine, the 5-2 morning-line favourite, draws post two with Drew Campbell driving for trainer Jennifer Doyle. The five-year-old Heston Blue Chip-Booty Call mare, owned by Doyle and Max Webster Stable, has been racing steadily against top company all meet. Promise Me Later has rail control for Corey MacPherson and trainer Luke Burke. Shake N Blake, from post four, gets Ken Murphy in the bike for Doyle while Therealprincess leaves from post five with Barrieau driving for trainer Matheson. Brokeandoutofgas completes the field from post three with Langille driving for trainer Tammy Collings.

The capital oval has a 12-dash presentation slated to start at 12:30 p.m.
