Charmbo Stormy Thunders To Western Fair Win
Charmbo Stormy blew into The Raceway at Western Fair District on Monday (Jan. 26) where she went wire-to-wire in the $11,000 Filly and Mare Preferred as the 2-5 favourite with driver Samuel Fillion.
Leaving from the outside post in the condensed field of five, Charmbo Stormy was parked and pressing on the first turn before pushing to the top around Ladies From Hell (Garrett Rooney) through an opening quarter of :28.1. Charmbo Stormy went unchallenged to the half in :58.4 before sprinting to a 2-1/2 length advantage at three-quarters in 1:28.2 while Justine Ray (Brady Galliers) went uncovered from last and moved into second.
Turning for home, Charmbo Stormy raced nearly two lengths clear while Justine Ray and Get Answers (Austin Sorrie) battled for second. Charmbro Stormy crossed the wire 1-3/4 lengths clear to stop the clock in 1:58.1 while Justine Ray edged out Get Answers for the place spot.
One of two winners on the evening for trainer Jared Mann, Charmbo Stormy is owned by Mann of Guelph, Ont., along with Ronald Nobes of Fergus, Ont. The victory was the second straight for the eight-year-old daughter of Sportswriter-Charmbo Lucky and 30th in the career of the $250,339 lifetime earner.
