Baby Limbo Goes Back-To-Back In Century Mile Preferred
Baby Limbo produced a lifetime-best performance to repeat in the $16,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace at Century Mile on Saturday, Jan.17.
Blake Piwniuk settled her in third while 5-2 favourite Stash The Cookies (Kelly Hoerdt) looped to the front from post seven near the quarter in :26.4. The group of mares bunched up approaching the half in :55.1, and Baby Limbo started her move out of third as they neared the last turn.
She clawed her way alongside Stash The Cookies, racing at her shoulder at three-quarters in 1:24.4, and chipped away at the pacesetter throughout the stretch drive. Baby Limbo outlasted her opponent and drew three-quarters of a length clear late to prevail in 1:53.3, a new career mark. Outlawguns N Roses (James Jungquist) finished third.
Baby Limbo has now won three straight starts, the last two at the Preferred level, and is 18-for-45 lifetime with earnings of $101,441. Mathew Howlett trains the five-year-old daughter of Captain Crunch-Wanda Bayama for Don Howlett of West St. Paul, Man. The win price was $8.20.
