Factory Girl Repeats In Dover Distaff Open

Factory Girl

Factory Girl captured her second straight $34,247 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday, Jan. 7.

Jett Propelled (Jason Thompson) left quickly, going past Huntress (Allan Davis) to lead at the quarter in :26.3. But Huntress launched a give-and-go, vacating the pocket to take point past the first station, and she was in control to the half in :55.1. Watching Brief N (Troy Beyer) raced first-over up the backstretch, but Factory Girl soon shifted out to lead the outside line and take on Huntress to three-quarters in 1:23.4. Factory Girl powered to the top in the stretch and held off the closing Jett Propelled by a neck in 1:52.2. Huntress finished third.

Factory Girl improved her career record to 14 wins in 69 starts with her seasonal debut win. The seven-year-old daughter of Downbytheseaside-Passionate Beauty is trained by Scott DiDomenico for owner Angela Cornell. She paid $8 to win.

Racing at Dover will continue on Thursday with a 14-race card headlined by the $27,500 USD Blue Hen Open Pace. Tom Horn will place his 10-race win streak on the line against the likes of 11-year-old warhorse Itsrockandroll A and last week’s winner, Muskateer Hanover.
