New Year’s Eve racing closed the book on the 2025 season at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and Brokeandoutofgas headlined a driving six-pack for Paul Langille in the $4,300 Fillies and Mares Winners Over Pace.

Langille had Brokeandoutofgas ($3.90) fifth to the quarter in :28, then sent the Arthur Blue Chip-Onehotvett mare scrambling to the lead near a :57.3 half. She made the front just past the midway point, then extended her advantage through three-quarters in 1:26 and finished four lengths in front in a sharp 1:54.4 for owner-trainer-breeder Tammy Collings of Hazel Brook, P.E.I. Therealprincess (Gilles Barrieau) was second, followed by Shake N Blake (Ken Murphy). The winner, a five-year-old mare, is now 16-for-61 lifetime with $49,130 in earnings.

In his final appearance before mandatory retirement, Well Did ($6.70) delivered a storybook farewell in the Happy Retirement Pictonian Storm Pace, wiring the field in 1:58.1 to kick off the big night for trainer-driver Langille. The victory was number 64 lifetime in 358 starts for the pacer who retired as the winningest son of multi-millionaire pacing sire Well Said. The gelding out of Marnie Hall, owned by Well Did Stable of Lower Onslow, N.S., earned $221,290 in his career.

Mighty Mouse also retired after competing in the opener with Jason Hughes in the bike for trainer Chris Covin and owner CC Stables of Middle Sackville, N.S. The daughter of Million Dollar Cam-Georgies Puddinpie finished with 44 wins in 320 starts and $151,295 in earnings.

Langille's second win came with his trainee Good Omen ($2.90), who blasted to the top in the sixth race and opened up by six lengths in 1:56.4. The speed show continued for Langille in the seventh race as Malignity ($2.10) crushed the field by 11 lengths in 1:54.

Impeccable Shadow ($4.10) delivered in the ninth race, sweeping to the lead late on the way to a 1:55.4 three-length decision for win number four on the evening for Langille. That winner was followed by Nolans Magic Shui ($16), who scored by a nose in 1:57.3 in Race 11 for an undefeated evening for the Langille barn.

Langille finished with six driving victories on the 14-race card, five of which came from his stable. The New Year's Eve boost put his career-best seasonal win totals at 134 in the sulky and 51 as a trainer.

Navalny ($2.70) was victorious in the eighth race to start a triple for owners Dale & Ronnie Rennie Inc. of Elmsdale, P.E.I. Brady Sweet drove the gelding for trainer Jeff Holmes. The owner's other two wins came from Impeccable Shadow and Nolans Magic Shui.

Steamboat Springs ($2.10) dominated the 12th race in 1:56.3 for trainer-driver Adam Merner to give him the final victory of his first training title at Charlottetown. The Port Morien, N.S., native finished the season with 63 wins, ahead of second-placed Jennifer Doyle, who doubled on closing night to bring her total to 59. Future Star Award nominee Landon Campbell was third with 58 victories. Ashley Gamester had the most purse earnings among trainers on the year in Charlottetown with $278,532.

Marc Campbell won his 16th straight driving title at Charlottetown with 153 wins. Gilles Barrieau was second at 122 wins and Corey MacPherson finished third with 105. Campbell also set a new Atlantic Canadian record for earnings in a season with $1,190,859 in the region in 2025. He recorded $743,309 of it at Charlottetown, giving him the track's money title.

In the New Year’s Eve finale, Edge Of The World ($7.50) used front-end control for trainer-driver Brett Leblanc and turned back the late push of Moonwriter (Marc Campbell). The five-year-old Sunshine Beach-Mileys Big World gelding stepped through fractions of :29.1, :58.4 and 1:28.4 before finishing it off in 1:58 to secure the season-ending victory. Moonwriter was second by 2-3/4 lengths, while longshot Mac Anover (Jason Hughes) rallied for third. Leblanc of Charlottetown, P.E.I. shares ownership of the victorious gelding, a seven-time winner in 89 lifetime outings, with Nolan Campbell of New Waterford, N.S.
