Miller Scores Five In Dayton Closer

Harness racing at Dayton Raceway

Brett Miller gave the fans a five-win show to close out the 2025 Dayton Raceway meet on Tuesday, Dec. 30, locking up second place in the drivers' standings.

While first place was decided long ago, Miller entered the 14‑race finale holding a one‑win advantage over Tyler Smith for second. Smith wasted no time, winning the opener with Caviart Donovan (1:53, $3.40) to pull even. Miller answered 25 minutes later, reclaiming the edge with a 1:55 score behind Tellme U R Mydate ($4.80).

Smith surged again with back‑to‑back victories in Races 5 and 6, scoring with Americanfirewater (1:55.1, $8.60) and Bluebird Lola (1:57, $2.60) to move back into sole possession of second. But Miller closed the door for good, winning three of the next four races with Captain Dolmio N (1:55.2, $3.40), Thisishoweyrock (1:55.4, $25.20), and Secret Fire (1:53, $3).

He capped his five‑win night by taking the finale with Merry Jerry (1:54.2, $22.20) in a 10‑1 upset.

Dayton's top driver, Chris Page, grabbed the lead midway in the meet and never looked back. His 164 wins and $2.1 million USD in earnings were well ahead of the rest. Miller finished with 111 wins, three more than Smith.

The 2026 training title went to Ron Burke, who piled up 63 wins. Steve Carter was 20 wins behind Burke in second place. Virgil Morgan Jr. took third with 33.

The night’s biggest surprise came in the $13,699 conditioned claiming pace, in which Ima Chic Magnet stormed up the passing lane for Carson Conrad to score a major upset.

Mama Said Zip It (Luke Hanners) controlled the fractions of :27.4, :56.2, and 1:24.4, and on the final turn, Bossa Nova Star (Josh Sutton) and Nadias Littlebell (Kayne Kauffman) both vacated the rail. That opened the door for Ima Chic Magnet, who slipped up the cones and nipped Bossa Nova Star by a head in 1:54.2, with Nadias Littlebell another three‑quarters of a length back in third.

The victory was Ima Chic Magnet's only win of the 2025 season in 24 starts. The four-year-old homebred son of Im Gorgeous-Fritzie Chic is trained by Timothy Reck for Marjorie Polhamus. He returned $130.20 to his backers.

The 2026 Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway season will get underway next September.
