No Foolin April Tops Dayton Distaffers Again

No Foolin April

No Foolin April scored her third straight Fillies & Mares Open victory at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway on Friday, Dec. 26.

This week's $38,356 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace was essentially over in the first sixteenth of the mile when driver Brett Miller blasted No Foolin April off the gate from the outside post to the early lead, putting her main rival Louisville Gb (Austin Hanners) into the pocket.

No Foolin April was cruising through panels of :26.3, :55.1 and 1:23.1. Louisville Gb took up the chase in the lane, but No Foolin April was able to hold off her foe by a neck in 1:52.1. Seaside Diva (Chris Page) edged out Jillian B Miki (Tyler Smith) and Rose Run Vision (Lewayne Miller) for third.

Adam Short of Xenia, Ohio is the breeder, owner and trainer of No Foolin April, a four-year-old daughter of Nob Hill High out of Princess Baby Ella. The mare earned her 10th victory of the year in 26 starts and now has 17 wins overall in her $570,000+ career.

The feature win was the fourth victory for Miller on the 14-race card.

Punters wagered $874,876 USD on Friday's program, marking the fourth highest total in the raceway’s history.

Just three cards remain on the 2025 Dayton Raceway schedule. Racing will resume on Monday, Dec. 29 with a 4 p.m. post time.
