Oh Look Magic Cruises To Grand Slam In Dayton Opens

Oh Look Magic

Oh Look Magic brushed and crushed for his fourth straight win in the $38,356 Open Handicap Trot on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.

Flagman (Rick Plano) was the fastest off the gate and led the field of nine past the opening quarter in :27 with Oh Look Magic sliding in fourth from post nine for Chris Page. Adamsville Road (Luke Hanners), hung on the outside, was forced to press on and grabbed the lead briefly before Page brought the eventual winner to the top at the half-mile station in :55.2.

Oh Look Magic let loose with a :27.2 third panel, reaching three-quarters in 1:22.4, and opened up some daylight down the backstretch. Adamsville Road couldn’t get close enough to pressure the leader, and Oh Look Magic cruised to a 4-1/2-length score in 1:51.4. Caviar Gold (Tyler Smith) edged out Flagman for third.

Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi own Oh Look Magic, a five-year-old son of Lookslikeachpndale-Miami Magic, who went to the winner’s circle for the 12th time in 2025 in 32 appearances. The gelding, trained by Burke, is now 25-for-84 lifetime. He paid $3.20 to win.

Sayinwhatimthinkin took the $32,877 Open II Trot in gate-to-wire fashion. Trevor Smith rated the gelding to :28, :56.4, and 1:25 fractions, and Sayinwhatimthinkin cruised to the line for the 1:54.1 victory. Angel Nation (Marvin Luna) was 3-1/2 lengths behind the winner but out-sprinted Team Bravo (Luke Hanners) for the place position.

Jeff Smith trains Sayinwhatimthinkin for Tdtrot LLC. The five-year-old son of Swan For All-Special Interest won for the seventh time this season in 39 outings and is now 11-for-85 lifetime. His win price was $4.

Trevor Smith had four wins on the 14-race card.

Racing at Dayton will pause over the Christmas holiday and resume on Friday, Dec. 26 with a 4 p.m. post time.
