Bee Two Bee Streak Reaches Five In CDP Feature
Bee Two Bee kept his winning streak alive in the featured $5,100 Winners Over Handicap Pace on Saturday, Dec. 20 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, leading a trio of winners for trainer Ashley Gamester.
Bee Two Bee ($2.90) sprinted to the top and never looked back for driver Jason Hughes. The eight-year-old Sunshine Beach-Bee Fullof Steinam stallion pushed to the lead coming off the first turn, then rolled through fractions of :28, :56.3 and 1:25.4 and stopped the clock in 1:53.4. He held Merigo Magic (Adam Merner) two lengths at bay with Brookdale Johnny (Paul Langille) third.
Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. and Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown, P.E.I. share ownership of the razor-sharp Bee Two Bee, who won his fifth straight top-level event. The stallion is now 46-for-179 lifetime with $557,127 in earnings.
A massive upset came in Race 12 as Laughagain Hanover ($43.30) stormed home to win in 1:57.4 for Hughes, Gamester, and owners MacRae and Blair and Eric MacLauchlan. Hughes and Gamester also scored with Lyndale Mr Mac ($6.20) in Race 2 with a 2:03.1 victory for owner David MacDonald. Gamester, a sixth-year trainer, has recorded 53 victories in 334 starts this year.
Another big-priced winner hit the wire first in the fourth race as Evil Vintage ($21.50) delivered in 2:00 for trainer-driver Corey MacPherson and owner Sandra Lee Stead.
In the third race, the In Loving Memory of Byron and Mary Gamester Pace, Mr Kelly ($2.60) won in 2:00.2 for trainer-driver Merner and owners Marsha Knox, Cory Livingston, Kevin Teasdale and Dustin MacInnis. Merner continues to lead all trainers at the capital oval with 61 wins with two cards to go in 2025.
Pauls Crown ($5.10) wired the field in the fifth race with a 1:58.4 clocking for trainer Stanley Harper and owners Tara Harper and Ryan Wilkie as part of a triple by driver Marc Campbell. The reinsman also won with Raising Sand ($2.10) in 2:02 in Race 6 for trainer Todd Walsh, who shares ownership with Shawn McAdam, Lance Jones, and Donnie McFadyen, and Howmac Maximus ($12.90) in Race 7 in 1:59 for trainer Tammy Collings and owner Grace Sorrie.
Jason Hughes had four winners on the 12-race card.
