Refined Tops Second North American Standardbred Mixed Sale

Refined winning at Scioto Downs

Accomplished trotting mare Refined fetched the highest price at the second annual North American Standardbred Mixed Sale on Friday, Dec. 19 at the Mount Hope Event Center in Mount Hope, Ohio.

A daughter of Uncle Peter - Reinvent, Refined sports more than $1.5 million in earnings and has earned six figures in six of her racing seasons. She took a mark of 1:51.2f at the age of eight, and matched that mark in 2025 at the age of nine. Consigned to the sale by Spring Haven Farm, she was purchased by Clearview Farm of Fredericksburg, Oh. for $356,164 ($260,000 USD).

Stardust Volo also garnered attention, with the Prolific Equine-consigned trotting broodmare going to Grey Valley Farms of Ulysses, Pa. after a $342,465 ($250,000 USD) sale. In foal to Chapter Seven, Stardust Volo (Muscle Hill - Sterling Volo) is a sibling to Breeders Crown winner Lily Stride 3,1:50.2 ($717,762) and 35-time winner Simply Volo 1:53.3s ($479,654).

Sophomore trotting filly Travel Nurse rounded out the top three horse sales of the day. The daughter of Enterprise – Poster Pin Up is a half sister to Ontario sire Lookslikeachpndale and hails from the immediate family of multiple stakes winner Oh Well 3,1:51.2 ($1,815,121). Also consigned by Spring Haven, Travel Nurse is now owned by Buckeye Bloodstock of Wooster, Oh. after a $191,781 ($140,000 USD) transaction.

Total sales for the 190 broodmares, racehorses, weanlings, yearlings and stallion shares topped $3.1 million, with an average of $16,516 per entrant.
