Bee Two Bee was all business in the featured $5,500 Preferred 1 Pace, cutting the mile with authority and pacing away in 1:54.3 for his fourth straight victory on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Bee Two Bee ($4) reached the top nearing the first station and carved out the fractions of :28, :58.2 and 1:27.3 before winning by 1-1/2 lengths over Merigo Magic (Adam Merner), with House Edge Hanover (Gilles Barrieau) third. Jason Hughes had the winning drive for trainer Ashley Gamester and owners Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. and Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown, P.E.I. 

Bee Two Bee, an eight-year-old son of Sunshine Beach-Bee Fullof Steinam, is now 45-for-178 lifetime with $554,577 in earnings.

Hughes and Gamester also teamed up in Race 12 to win with Laughagain Hanover ($10) in 1:59.

Trainer Clifford Murphy made two trips to the winner’s circle, both with son Ken Murphy in the bike, as Abc ($3.30) got it done with a late kick to win in 2:00.2 and All Bettor ($54) landed the upset to win in 1:57.2.

Corey MacPherson tripled up as a driver on the day, winning with Wind Blown ($3) in 1:55.2 for trainer Phil Sizer, along with a pair from his own barn: Th Spikey Mikey ($2.60) in 2:00.4 and Mr Rielly ($6.60) in 1:57.

In Race 5, the Steamatic P.E.I. Restoration Professionals Pace, Buddysnvirgins ($31.70) sat third most of the way, then launched to the line to score in 2:00.3 for driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Darrell Neill.

The day also featured a match race between the Grinch and Santa Claus, and racegoers rejoiced as Santa defeated his green foe in a narrow victory. After multiple lead changes throughout the race, Santa and Heatherspet rounded up Stonebeachlily and the Grinch in late stretch to save Christmas.
