Bee Two Bee Makes It Three In CDP Preferred
Bee Two Bee used a strong late kick to capture the $5,500 Preferred Handicap Pace on a busy Saturday, Nov. 29 card at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Ashley Gamester trainee got away sixth and last in the compact field as Phil My Beer (Marc Campbell) guarded the pylons and cut fractions of :27.3, :57.2 and 1:27.1 with Wind Blown (Corey MacPherson) perched in the pocket. Driver Jason Hughes angled Bee Two Bee ($3.50) second-over at the three-quarters and then three-wide off cover, and the Sunshine Beach-Bee Fullof Steinam horse did the rest, roaring home in :28 to win by a length in 1:55.4 over Wind Blown and Phil My Beer.
Bee Two Bee is owned by Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. and Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown, P.E.I. The eight-year-old is now 44-for-177 lifetime with earnings of $551,827.
The Joe & Steven MacRae Memorial Fall Series had a trio of second-leg splits, kicked off by Bold N Bad ($52.90) lighting up the toteboard in the sole $4,000 division. Windsong Quincy (Marc Campbell) was first under the wire but was placed fifth for interference going to the eighth pole, elevating Bold N Bad to the victory with a time of 2:01. Brett Clow engineered the trip behind the 10-year-old gelding for owner-trainer Deanna Clow of New Haven, P.E.I. Bugtown Nash (Rob Chappell) and Century Invictus (Norris Rogers) moved up to second and third, respectively, in the amended order.
Spack Jarrow ($6.20) rolled in the first of two $4,500 splits. The nine-year-old gelding tracked pacesetter Marleys Boy (Campbell) to three-quarters, then powered past him in the lane to score in 1:58.3 for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Raymond White. Mike Slana of Belfast, P.E.I. owns and bred the gelding. Marleys Boy finished second and Power Of Four (Ryan Desroche) was third.
Rosiesmightymoe ($8) delivered in the other $4,500 division as Gilles Barrieau steered the four-year-old to victory in 1:58.3 in a three-horse finish over Five Star Dragon (Adam Merner) and Im Hungry (Paul Langille). Rosiesmightymoe is trained by Melvin Gamester of Hunter River, P.E.I., who shares ownership with Heather Gamester of North Wiltshire, P.E.I.
Hughes also won the fifth race with the Sifroi Melanson-trained Woodmere Ideal Art ($7.40) in 1:58 for a triple by the Stratford, P.E.I. driver.
Driver David Dowling and trainer Jennifer Doyle teamed up for a pair of wins. They scored with Woodmere Sinatra ($4.40) in Race 9 in 1:56.4 and High Praise ($4.80), who took his third straight victory, this time in 1:56.2 in Race 16.
Adam Merner also recording a training and driving double, taking wins with Sports Teller ($5.10) in 1:57 in Race 12 and Merigo Magic ($2.10) in 1:58 in Race 13.
