Century Downs Racetrack and Casino will welcome the community back for its annual Weihnachtsmarkt, a beloved holiday tradition that transforms the barns behind the casino into a festive European-style marketplace this weekend, all in support of The Magic of Christmas, this year’s partner charity.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MST) on Saturday, Nov. 29 and Sunday, Nov. 30.

This year's Weihnachtsmarkt will feature over 130 local artisans and vendors with the curated market including handmade crafts, artisan goods, baking, art, jewelry, home decor and more. Attendees can savour the flavours of the season with authentic German street food or warm up indoors with a cup of mulled wine or hot chocolate amid the festive atmosphere.

Live music and festive entertainment will be provided throughout the day by local musicians Joey Pringle and Jamie Allanach. Families can visit the kids’ area, where Santa, his elves and gingerbread characters will be spreading cheer, classic Christmas movies will be playing all day long and there will be free face painting.

Local volunteers and The Magic of Christmas ambassadors will be collecting donations and raising awareness for its mission to deliver gifts and holiday cheer to vulnerable Calgarians.

The barns are heated and beautifully decorated, although it is recommended attendees dress warm to stay cozy. Admission is free and open to all ages, with donations to The Magic of Christmas gratefully accepted.
