Chic Choc Rose Blossoms In Harvest Final
Chic Choc Rose was in full bloom, crushing first-over in the $48,400 Harvest Series Final on Monday (Nov. 24) at Woodbine Mohawk Park with James MacDonald in the bike for trainer Dave Menary.
Scratched sick from the last leg, Chic Choc Rose was tabbed the 5-2 second choice in the final for Ontario-Sired three-year-old trotting fillies who were non-winners of $30,000 as of Sept. 30. Leaving from post six, Chic Choc Rose was away well into third on the first turn while 3-2 favourite TH Monica (Jody Jamieson) trotted around Stovid (Trevor Henry) to be on top at the quarter in :29.1. The trotters raced single-file to the half in :58.2 when MacDonald right-lined Chic Choc Rose, quickly powering alongside TH Monica at three-quarters in 1:26.4.
Racing with a head of steam, Chic Choc Rose grabbed a short lead at the head of the lane while TH Monica tried to counter to her inside. Sprinting home in :27.2, Chic Choc Rose cleared midway through the stretch before opening up by 4-1/2 lengths on the wire in a dominant 1:54.2. TH Monica held for second, with Nightingale (Todd Ratchford) rallying for the third spot.
The effort was a career best for Chic Choc Rose who is owned by the Burke Racing Stable of Fredericktown, Pa., and Weaver Bruscemi LLC of Canonsburg, Pa. The daughter of Royalty For Life-Torches Angel has won three of her last four and eight of 19 on the year while banking $68,482 in 2025.
