The Magic Moment Doubles In Flamboro Preferred

The Magic Moment defeated tough older opponents for the second straight week, this time leading them at every call in the $11,000 Horses and Geldings Preferred Pace at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Nov. 23.

P L Oliver (Jason Ryan) out-left the two-time Quebec champion into the first turn, but The Magic Moment immediately left the pocket and strode to command before the quarter in :27.1. He headed the field of eight through the half in :56.1 and cruised to three-quarters in 1:25.2 with the first-over Cheddar Bay (Scott Coulter) 2-1/2 lengths back. Cheddar Bay and P L Oliver took their shots down the lane, but The Magic Moment made it home under mild encouragement from Garrett Rooney and finished the mile in 1:54.2. P L Oliver was a half-length short, followed by Cheddar Bay.

The win was the 11th for The Magic Moment in 16 starts in a standout sophomore season. Among those victories by the Control The Moment-Wind River Cat gelding are a Prospect Series Final and the final of the Trophee des Eleveurs. He made his Preferred debut last week at Flamboro and has now won both starts at the top level. The Francis Guillemette trainee is 14-for-21 lifetime with $131,310 in earnings for owners Gestion A&A Belanger Inc. and Cynthia Cote Dupont of Shawinigan, Que.
