Preferred Rematch, Matinee Card Coming Up At Rideau

Hp Lis Shadow

Rideau Carleton Raceway would like to remind horseplayers and fans that while live harness racing continues every Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. up to and including Dec. 14, Wednesday night racing is now done for the year.

The Sunday, Nov. 23 card features the return of the reigning Rideau Carleton Horse of the Year, The Light Speed, in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Pace, scheduled as race six. Starting from post four in the quintet, The Light Speed and trainer/driver Guy Gagnon will take on outside assignee Hp Lis Shadow, who is the even-money morning line favourite back in action off a victory in their last Preferred matchup on Nov. 2. The Jacob Copley-trained Hp Lis Shadow is back in line to Robert Shepherd, who was aboard for his last-out victory.

There will be a special 4 p.m. post time for the Thursday, Nov. 27 program, which is available for wagering on major North American ADWs. The live stream can also be viewed on the track's YouTube and Facebook pages.

Fans of National Debt, a career winner of 93 races and $778,939 in purses, will want to visit Rideau Carleton on Sunday, Nov. 30 for the 14-year-old stallion's official retirement ceremony. Owner François Morin of Beauceville, Que. has arranged to bring The Light Speed's longtime rival back to the track to meet the public for the special evening.

Mr. Lucky's restaurant and the grandstand snack bar remain open on live race nights.
