Triple Sevens Pockets Friday Feature Win At Plainridge

Triple Sevens winning at Plainridge Park

A perfect pocket trip led to a victory for Triple Sevens in the featured $21,127 conditioned pace at Plainridge Park on Friday, Nov. 21.

Driven by Brad Irvine for trainer Jimmy Nickerson, Triple Sevens sat second behind stablemate Danger Zone and Kevin Switzer Jr., who cut the quarter in :27.2 by two lengths before passing the half in :56.2 and coming under siege by Colt Bennett (Matty Athearn) and 1-2 favourite Braeview Bondi N (Mitchell Cushing) following right behind. The field stacked up in two rows as they approached three-quarters in 1:24.2 with the top four horses still tightly grouped. Danger Zone took the lead into the stretch, but Triple Sevens burst forward along the pylons to take the lead and he held off the fast-closing Braeview Bondi N by a length in 1:54.1. Danger Zone edged out Colt Bennett for third.

The win was the third of the year in 26 starts for Triple Sevens, who paid $18.80 for the 8-1 upset. The four-year-old Rockin Image-Seventimesavirgin gelding is owned by Richard Cortese of Schenectady, New York and Marc Reynolds of Malta, New York.

Irvine also won with 13-1 upsetter Mach Seelster ($29) in an $18,310 conditioned pace for owner/trainer Domenic Longobardi. Mach Seelster made a first-over move heading to three-quarters and easily overpowered Skyway Masterpiece (Mitchell Cushing) in the stretch to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:52.1, tying his seasonal mark.

Like Irvine, fellow driver Kevin Switzer Jr. and trainer Mark Harris also won two races on Friday.

Live harness racing will resume at Plainridge Park on Monday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. There are only four racing days left in the 2025 season at Plainridge with a schedule change for next week. Live racing will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, all at the normal post time of 1 p.m. There will be no racing at Plainridge on the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday.
