Gagnon Scores Four At Rideau On Sunday
Guy Gagnon piloted his students to give himself four training wins on the Sunday, Nov. 16 evening card at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
I Ama Rocket ($3.10) stood out above his stablemates with a nine-length triumph in a swift 1:53 with Gagnon in the sulky.
Leaving from post five, I Ama Rocket contested against Bets Show Off (Stephane Pouliot) for the front-end trip. After the opening quarter in :27.1, I Ama Rocket achieved the lead and he opened up on the field with a 1-1/2-length advantage at the :55.4 half and a two-length lead at the 1:24 three-quarters. Turning for home, I Ama Rocket used all his rocket power and a :29 final panel to win. Shotgun Jerry (Melanie Plourde) finished second with Bets Show Off third.
Louise Ricard of Gatineau, Que. owns the nine-year-old Custard The Dragon-Machs Rocket gelding, who is a career winner of $468,991 with 51 wins in 212 starts. This season, I Ama Rocket has banked $50,470 to go along with nine wins in 29 starts.
Gagnon also won with Beach Journey ($7.70) in 1:56.2, Troublewiththecurv ($4.90) in 1:56.4 and Make It Come True ($4.20) in 1:57.2.
Exotic Sand ($3.80) won his fifth straight race for trainer John MacMillan, who co-owns the seven-year-old American Ideal-Jus Chilln Out gelding with 2099551 Ontario Inc. of Greely, Ont. Marie-Claude Auger piloted the winner in 1:56.
