No Guts No Glory Wins Plainridge Friday Feature

No Guts No Glory winning at Plainridge Park

Sophomore pacer No Guts No Glory has not been beaten since he started racing at Plainridge Park and that trend continued on Friday, Nov. 14 in the featured $24,648 conditioned pace.

Making his third start at Plainridge from the Kevin Switzer stable another winning one with Mitchell Cushing picking up the live catch-drive, No Guts No Glory sat third early on as heavily favoured Th Kay C Crunch and Kevin Switzer Jr. scooted to the half in :55.3. Positions remained unchanged heading up the backstretch until Liams Ace and Matty Athearn left the pocket at the 1:24 three-quarters mark and were followed by No Guts No Glory into the last turn. As they entered the stretch, Liams Ace overtook Th Kay C Crunch for the lead, but then No Guts No Glory ran down Liams Ace just before the wire to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:53.2, which was a new lifetime mark. Scrappy Ideal and Jay Randall finished third ahead of the bettors' choice.

Overlooked at odds of 11-1, No Guts No Glory paid $25.20 to win. The Deuce Seelster-Cevina De Chakrika gelding had earned just one win in Maine stakes action before his three-race Massachusetts win streak for his new owner, KDK Standardbreds. He's earned $62,118 through 24 career starts.

Bruce Ranger scored three wins to lead all drivers on Friday while trainer Michelle Lefebvre was the top trainer with two tallies.

Live harness racing will resume at Plainridge Park on Monday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. There will be a $1,692 carryover in the Wicked Hi-5 pentafecta in the sixth race.
