Charmbo Stormy Drops And Pops At Flamboro
Charmbo Stormy left the Woodbine Mohawk Park conditioned ranks to take on a strong group of distaffs in the $10,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace at Flamboro Downs on Saturday, Nov. 8, and the veteran mare was a dominant winner.
She looped to the top from post six nearing the quarter in :28 and cruised through the half in :57.3, facing opposition soon after from Sauble Amber (Jay Harris). Sauble Amber pushed up alongside the leader at three-quarters in 1:26.2 before fading, leaving Charmbo Stormy to coast to a 3-3/4-length victory in 1:55. Ladyterra finished second, followed by a rallying Golden Leader (Dale Spence).
Charmbo Stormy has won the past two Preferreds she entered, dating back to a victory at Grand River Raceway on Aug. 20. Jared Mann of Guelph, Ont. trains the mare and shares ownership with Ronald Nobes of Fergus, Ont. The seven-year-old daughter of Sportswriter-Charmbo Lucky has racked up 27 lifetime wins and $222,939 in earnings in 148 starts. She returned $3.60 at the windows.
