Twin B Tuffenuff produced late-firing heroics in the $5,500 Preferred 1 Handicap Pace on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park for his third straight victory.

He sat third behind the fractions of :28.2, :58.1, and 1:28.1 provided by Bee Two Bee (Jason Hughes) over the track rated good and two seconds slow. Gilles Barrieau sent the Twin B Tuffenuff ($3.90) first-over nearing three-quarters, and the 10-year-old gelding battled Bee Two Bee around the last turn. He kicked away from that rival in the stretch and sprinted home to defeat the rail-shooting Malignity (Paul Langille) by a half-length in 1:56.2. T H Boomtown (Ken Murphy) finished third.

Ron Matheson trains Twin B Tuffenuff, who has conquered the top class in his last three starts, for owner Pat Morris of Charlottetown, P.E.I. The winning son of Rock N Roll Heaven-In The Pink is now 51-for-219 lifetime with $828,691 in earnings.

In Race 2, Twin B Betonit ($3.30) looked all business as Barrieau oversaw a commanding 2:03 win for his own barn. Barrieau also had the Matheson-trained House Edge Hanover ($2.70) marching on the engine, and the four-year-old drew clear in 1:56.2 in Race 7 as part of a triple for the driver and double for the trainer.

Reinsman Ken Murphy also tripled on the 11-race card. He won the sixth race with Woodmere Sinatra ($5.80), who collared pacesetter Geishas Treasure (Marc Campbell) late to score in 1:59 for trainer Jennifer Doyle. Murphy also teamed up with his father, trainer Clifford Murphy, for wins with Abc ($3.50) in 1:59.3 in the eighth race and Pictonian I Am ($11.70) in 1:56.2 in the opener.
