Favourites Deliver In Dayton Friday Features
Tellitlikeiseeit played hardball early with a challenger and drew off to score an open-length victory in the first of two $25,352 condition claiming paces featured on the Friday, Nov. 7 card at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.
Driver Brett Miller were not content to take back and hustled favourite Tellitlikeiseeit, a winner of two straight efforts, to the lead, parking the sophomore Rosetown Eclipse (Cameron McCown) through the opening panels in a blistering :26 and :53.2. The four-year-old gelded son of Tellitlikeitis-Ready To Win opened a three-length lead at the three-quarters in 1:20.4. His effort to bottom out the field was successful with an easy :30 final quarter to secure the six-length win in 1:50.4 over the ‘good’ surface. Mctorious (Trevor Smith) saved ground and edged Free The Madness (Austin Hanners) by a half-length to take the place spot.
Tellitlikeiseeit is trained by Steve Carter for Caldwell Mamie Racing of Bellaire, Ohio. He paid $3.60 win in his seventh seasonal victory from 17 starts.
In the co-feature, Draw Off survived a first-over trip to win in 1:52.4 for trainer/driver Pat Mellow Jr. The field was sent on its way and Twenty Five (Chris Page) received the first call. Sinatra Hanover (Luke Hanners) was not content to race from the pocket and took the lead shortly after the opening quarter in :27.4. There was limited action on top in the second quarter, allowing for a :29.1 breather. Draw Off, the lukewarm favourite who got away sixth, was forced to go the long mile and was stride for stride with Sinatra Hanover at the three-quarters in 1:24.4. Draw Off lived up to his name and drew off from the field to score the 2-1/4-length victory over Who Dey Nation (Brett Miller) in the passing lane. Sinatra Hanover was better than Heerz Popeye (Cameron McCown) in the show photo.
Draw Off, a four-year-old ridgling son of Heston Blue Chip and Stylish Artist, is owned by Melloy and Lisa Gosselin of Eaton, Ohio. The victory was his fourth of the season in 24 starts. Draw Off paid $6.20 to win.
Chris Page recorded a grand slam during the 14-race card and Tyler Smith had a driving triple.
Dayton Raceway returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 8 with a 14-race card starting at 4 p.m.
