Twist Little Girl N winning at Saratoga Raceway

Twist Little Girl N made her Saratoga Raceway debut a winning one in the $26,056 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Edwin Quevedo trains the six-year-old Vincent-Twist N Shout mare, who had Justin Huckabone driving. The race favourite, Twin B Echo (Jimmy Devaux), set the fractions in the feature and travelled unopposed through a first half that went in :58.3 before quickly
being met with the challenge of Twist Little Girl N, whose first-over power surge propelled her to a commanding lead past three-quarters in 1:26. The 7-1 shot never looked back after clearing the lead and powered away to score by a 6-1/2 lengths in a mile clocked in 1:54.4. Twin B Echo was well beaten but held strong to be second while Waitforever N (Aaron Byron) earned the show spot.

Twist Little Girl N’s win was her sixth of the year in 31 starts and sent her seasonal earnings past the $150,000 mark. She returned $17.04 for the upset.

Quevedo and Huckabone doubled on the card when they teamed up for a victory with pacing mare Senorita Draco ($14.92), who romped in 1:57 in a $10,563 race for claiming distaffers.

Both winning mares are owned by David Dobbelmann of Forest Lake and Cathy Dessert of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota.

Live harness racing continues on Wednesday at Saratoga with a matinee that begins at 12 p.m.
