Climatic Hanover Tops Day One Of Standardbred Horse Sale

Bidding reached atmospheric heights during the opening day of the 2025 Standardbred Horse Sale on Monday, Nov. 3 at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with Climatic Hanover topping the first yearling session.

Selling as Hip 94, Climatic Hanover was the day's sale topper with bidding soaring to $1,021,127 ($725,000 USD) for the Walner-Crucial filly, a half sister to O'Brien and Dan Patch Award winner Maryland ($2,354,088 - 1:51.2). The winning bidder was Torgeir Hagmann of Cambridge, Ont. The filly from the Hanover Shoe Farms consignment is the third foal out of her multiple stakes-winning dam and a full brother to Grand Circuit starter Cambridge Hanover ($49,387), last year's sale topper for $1,388,889 ($1 million USD).

Seven Pledges, Hip 85, attracted another high bid at $985,916 ($700,000 USD), purchased by Andrew Harris of Allentown, New Jersey. Consigned by agent Concord Stud Farm, the Chapter Seven colt is the first foal out of the six-figure earning Ontario stakes winner Clockwork Orange. His dam is a Resolve sister to the millionaire Breeders Crown champion Allegiant.

Command Center, hip 152, garnered a winning bid of $704,225 ($500,000 USD) as he was purchased by Sweden's Robert Lindstrom. Consigned by the Hunterton Sales Agency Consigment, the Gimpanzee colt is out of the World Champion mare, Mission Brief, making him a half-brother to this year's Mohawk Million and Peter Haughton Memorial winner, Apex ($1,200,447 - 1:51.4). 

Harris, acting as agent, purchased another top selling yearling on day one, bidding $683,098 ($485,000 USD) for Sootie Hanover, Hip 27. Consigned by Hanover Shoe Farms, the Bulldog Hanover-Shining Beauty filly is a half sister to multiple Kentucky stakes winner Bytheliteofthemoon ($90,530 - 1:51.2). Her dam is out of former world champion American Jewel and is a Captaintreacherous sister to millionaire stakes winner Odds On Platinum.

Rounding out the top five highest priced yearlings of the session, Swingingchandelier, Hip 30, was purchased for $528,169 ($375,000 USD) by Determination of Montreal, Que. Consigned by agent Concord Stud Farm, Swingingchandelier is a Chapter Seven-Swinging Royalty filly that is a full sister to millionaire Ahundreddollarbill ($1,071,603 - 1:50.2).

In all, the first session saw 170 yearlings go through the ring for a gross total of $23,321,127 ($16,558,000 USD) and an average price of $134,987 ($95,841 USD). The average price was down 11 per cent from 2024 where 150 yearlings sold for $153,315 ($110,387 USD), grossing $22,997,222 ($16,558,000 USD). 

Days two and three of the yearling portion of the sale get underway at 10 a.m. EST on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the Mixed Sale portion taking place on Thursday and Friday with a start time of 11 a.m. on both days.
