Alan Richardson Passes
Alan Richardson (The Iceman) of Dublin, Ireland passed away on Oct. 25, 2025 peacefully but unexpectedly surrounded by his loving wife, sons and family, in the wonderful care of staff at ICU North Beaumont Hospital. He was 54.
Beloved husband and soul mate of Amanda and loving father and best pal to Odhran and Fionn, adored son of Tom (Roger) and the late Jean, cherished brother of Rhonda, Lesley, Vivienne, Thomas and Keith, much loved son-in-law of Louise and the late Ian.
Alan will be very sadly missed by his wife, sons, dad, brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nephew, best friend Ricky, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, large circle of friends and the wider harness racing community in Ireland, United Kingdom, Canada and France.
From the earliest days of his career, Alan showed a rare instinct for horses and a determination to succeed. Whether it was a pacer or a trotter, he could target any race anywhere with precision and confidence. His training yard became synonymous with excellence -- producing a stream of outstanding performers that reflected both his talent and his tireless work ethic.
In the early years, names like Tina Image, Indicator and Sticky Two Steps put Alan on the map, while the great trotter Enorm followed in later seasons, cementing his reputation as a master of his craft. More recently, his successes with Galiano and Earned Income demonstrated that Alan’s touch was as sharp as ever.
Of course, his world record with his French trotter Vichy De Moem will forever stand as one of the highlights of his illustrious career -- but it was Rock Of Cashel, his own homebred star, that truly captured his heart. A horse who earned more than $972,000, Rock Of Cashel carried Alan to many memorable victories, none more special than their triumphant win at The Meadowlands, a moment of immense pride and joy for him.
Beyond his achievements on the track, Alan will be remembered as a friend to many. His legacy will live on not only in the record books but also in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.
Reunited in heaven with his loving mam Jean and all his loved ones gone before him.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Donations in lieu of flowers to Irish Cancer Society in memory of Alan Richardson.
