Joelsyy Hanover

Joelsyy Hanover used a gate-to-wire effort to score a 27-1 upset in the $39,437 Horses and Geldings Open Pace on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.

Tyler Smith sent Joelsyy Hanover out of the outside post seven and got him to the lead before the opening quarter in :27.1. Crunch Time A (Trevor Smith) and Alta Revelry N (Jeremy Smith) were the first to move and advanced through the half in :55.3 and three-quarters in 1:22.4. Joelsyy Hanover then produced a :27.2 final quarter to hold off a fast-closing Pj Lou (Brett Miller) by a half-length in 1:50.1. Alta Revelry N was three-quarters of a length back in third.

Joelsyy Hanover is co-owned by trainer Jessica Millner and Andrew Coblentz. The seven-year-old gelded son of Jk Endofanera-Jans Luck has won 27 of 146 lifetime outings and has earned $548,752. He paid $56.60 to win.

The night’s biggest upset came in the $15,493 conditioned pace in the eighth race as Four More Years, driven by Koltin Noble, made a late three-wide move to score at 31-1. The bettors' choice, Go Pikachu Go (Chris Page), took the early lead from post eight and was able to control the fractions of :27, :56.3, and 1:24.2. As the field of 10 turned for home, Four More Years came off third-over cover and swooped to victory by a half-length over K Man Jack (Brett Miller) in 1:53.1. Caviart Eden (Kayne Kauffman) was third. The entire field was within 3-1/2 lengths of the winner. Noble owns and trains Four More Years, a seven-year-old Always B Miki-Fable gelding.

Tyler Smith and Brett Miller both scored driving grand slams on the 14-race card.

Dayton Raceway will host its next card on Tuesday, Oct. 28 with a 4 p.m. post time.
