Myretirementdream Scores In Flamboro Preferred

Myretirementdream took his first lifetime Preferred-level victory as he rose in class to the $10,000 Preferred Trot on Thursday, Oct. 16 at Flamboro Downs and gutted out a tough trip.
The stallion got away fourth from a post-one start for Jay Harris as Royalty Beer (Samuel Fillion) pushed forward to the engine on the first turn. That gelding reached the quarter in :27.2 and got a big breather to the half in :57.2, at which point Myretirementdream was rolling up to his wheel first-over. Myretirementdream made steady headway as they turned onto the backstretch, and he muscled past the pacesetter as they raced through three-quarters in 1:26.1 but was instantly engaged by the now-uncovered Hey Ralphie (Austin Sorrie).
That pair duelled nose-to-nose around the final turn with Goodashim (Scott Coulter) lurking behind them before tipping to the outside at the top of the lane. Myretirementdream regained the advantage as they straightened for home, and he held off a renewed surge from Hey Ralphie and the late bid from Goodashim to prevail by a neck in 1:56. Hey Ralphie was second, followed by Goodashim.
Myretirementdream, a homebred for owner-trainer Eli Wagler of Ingersoll, Ont., notched his third victory of the campaign in 27 attempts. The four-year-old, a three-time Ontario Sires Stakes Gold leg winner, is now seven-for-47 lifetime and has raked in $394,672 in earnings. He returned $10.50 to win.
