Bettor On Than Off Upsets In Truro Winners Over

Bettor On Than Off swept three-wide to victory at 8-1 in the featured Winners Over Pace at Truro Raceway on Monday, Oct. 13.
The gelding, away from post five for Robert Laffin in the $2,500 contest, was sixth at the pylons to the quarter in :27.4, set by American Risk (Keith Legge), before joining the outside line third-over before the half in :57.2. The seven-horse field raced three-in, four-out onto the backstretch, where Bettor On Than Off moved three-wide around tiring rivals to chase American Risk through three-quarters in 1:26.1, while Fifth Estate (Ernie Laffin) vacated the pocket on the last turn to make it a three-horse dash for the line. Bettor On Than Off out-kicked the inner pair, coming home in :28.2 to take the victory by a half-length in 1:55.1. Fifth Estate got by American Risk for second.
Bettor On Than Off recorded his fifth win of the season in 19 starts and his fourth victory in the Truro Winners Over in 2025. Danny Romo of Shubenacadie, N.S. owns and trains the son of Bettors Delight-Lights Go Out. The six-year-old gelding is 13-for-61 lifetime and has earned $30,578. He paid $19.60 to win.
