Talk Some Smack Upsets Top Pacers At Inverness

Talk Some Smack wasn't the talk of the toteboard in the Winners Over Pace on Sunday, Oct. 12 at Inverness Raceway, but he had something to say about that.
After landing in fourth through a :29.3 opening quarter in the afternoon's $2,000 featured finale, driver Travis MacLean sent Talk Some Smack on the attack first-up through middle splits of 1:00.1 and 1:29.4. They loomed outside of pacesetter Windemere Best Man and Danny Gillis turning for home and eventually wore down that front-striding foe for the victory by three-quarters of a length in 2:00.1. Windemere Best Man, nosed out for the win last week, settled for second again. Locked in the pocket, Shir Gain (Rodney Gillis) followed in third while 4-5 favourite La Playa Deo (Andrew MacLean) closed between rivals from the back to nab fourth over the dead-heating Bettie White (Zach Mullins) and last week's winner Whats Up Doc (Keigan Madden).
After missing by just a half-length in a tight top three finish a week ago, Talk Some Smack was sent postward as the 5-1 fifth choice in the field of six and returned $12.80 to his backers for the upset win.
Talk Some Smack, a six-year-old Artspeak-Astraean gelding, earned his eighth win of the season in 20 starts for trainer/owner Kevin MacDonald.
