Pacers Duel In Atlantic Breeders Crown Consolations
Charlottetown Driving Park held four $10,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown Consolations for pacers on Saturday, Oct. 11.
Isle Mach Da Money ($4.70) kicked off the stakes action with a 1:57.4 score in the rookie filly pace consolation for trainer-driver Gilles Barrieau. She forged first-over to the front at three-quarters en route to her fourth consecutive victory by 1-1/4 lengths over Alwaysinfullforce (Marc Campbell), followed by Elm Grove Uncannie (Ken Murphy). The winner, a Tobago Cays-Mach The Cut filly, is owned by David Lund.
Windemere Barkley ($4.20), driven by Marc Campbell, inherited the lead at the half and charged to a seven-length score in 1:57.2 in the consolation for two-year-old pacing males. Saltwater Captain (David Dowling) edged out Bet On Evil (Mike McGuigan) for second. Zach Mullins trains Windemere Barkley, a son of Somewhere Fancy-Windemere Nancy, and co-owns him with Cole and Ross Mullins.
In the sophomore filly pace consolation, Lorne Valley Liv ($29.30) rocketed three-wide to the lead and prevailed by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:58, followed by Woodmere Flojo (Adam Merner) in second and Muchtooyoungforyou (Marc Campbell) in third. Kenny Arsenault drove the winning Tobago Cays-J J Tackoor filly, who is trained by Myles Heffernan for owner-breeder Barry MacLeod.
Abiding Art ($7) was unstoppable on the front in the three-year-old pacing male consolation, going wire-to-wire in a 4-1/2-length win with Jason Hughes in the sulky for Arsenault, who trains the gelding. Big Pond Cash (Marc Campbell) was second, with Like A King (Dowling) third. Jack and Brendan Melanson own Abiding Art, a son of Rollwithitharry-Ding.
