MacDonald To Receive Canadian Colours Monday

James MacDonald

James MacDonald, Canada's 2024 National Driving Champion, is preparing to represent the nation once again at the 2025 World Driving Championship (WDC) in New Zealand this November.

A special presentation of MacDonald’s Canadian colours will take place in the winner’s circle at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday, Oct. 6, prior to the first race of the evening. Standardbred Canada’s President & CEO, Darryl Kaplan, will make the presentation.

The Guelph, Ont. reinsman is a familiar face on the world stage. The 38-year-old has represented Canada three times at the World Driving Championship and claimed the title in 2017 on home soil. With more than 4,200 career victories and $83 million in purse earnings, MacDonald's achievements were recognized once again in 2024 when he was crowned the Keith Waples Driver of the Year for the fourth consecutive year.

Fans are invited to meet James MacDonald, get an autograph, and take photos with him and his Canadian colours. They can also sign the "Good Luck Banner," which will be broadcast during the presentation.

As a special bonus, Standardbred Canada Junior Members will receive an exclusive invitation to join MacDonald in the winner's circle after the presentation, alongside Kaplan and Mark Horner, Chair of Standardbred Canada's Board of Directors.
