A quartet of $27,778 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) first-leg divisions for two-year-old trotters were contested on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Harrington Raceway.

Thiskissformaryell ($2.20) produced the fastest clocking of the four splits, going all the way on the engine for Jim Morand to prevail in 2:02.4 by three lengths over Prime Yield (Art Stafford Jr.), followed by Wingspan (Steve Smith). The Iron Mine Bucky-Twin B Kisses gelding notched his second win in six starts for trainer Les Givens and owners Nanticoke Racing Inc., James Magno, and Joe Fonte.

Dancing Willow ($15) kicked things off with a 2:03.4 win off an outside grind in the first filly split, going clear by three lengths over Rainingrainbows (Allan Davis), with Ridley Park (Stafford) third. Jason Green drove the Dusty Winner-Will You Dance filly to her first career victory in three attempts for trainer Cliff Green and owner Whodathunkit Stable LLC.

In the second filly division, Emerys Angel (Stafford) did the heavy lifting, setting the pace while favourite Tuis Star ($2.10) bided her time before charging at the leader to three-quarters and edging clear for a 1-1/2-length win in 2:03.1. Sheas Bluestone (Mark King) was a distant third. Tuis Star was piloted by Corey Callahan to her maiden-breaking victory in her fifth start. The daughter of E L Platinum-Tui is owned by Don and David Wiest and trained by the latter.

Pappys Deal ($3) was a 2:04.2 winner in the second division for males with Davis aboard for trainer Jim King Jr. The Xactly Hanover-Ellies Funky Munky gelding struck the front past three-quarters and held off Sweepea (Callahan) by a half-length. Winging It (Steve Smith) was third. Jo Ann Looney-King owns the winner, who is now one-for-three.

The top eight point-earners from the two DSBF legs will return to compete in the $110,000 USD finals on Oct. 15.

On the undercard, Austin Stafford and Wyatt Starkey's Navy Blue ($10.60) won the $20,139 Winners Over Trot in 1:56.2 by a length over Kodack Black (Montrell Teague). Secret Jet (Davis) completed the ticket. The mile equalled Navy Blue's lifetime mark. The six-year-old son of Anders Bluestone-Overnight Hit had Art Stafford Jr. in the bike for trainer Stacy Johnson-Stafford. He is 19-for-43 lifetime.

Tom Creek ($4.40) triumphed for the third straight start for trainer William Wagenhoffer and driver Eddie Dennis in 1:57.2 in the 11th race. The four-year-old Long Tom-Prettysydney Ridge gelding, owned by Wagenhoffer Racing LLC and E&K Stable Inc., scored his sixth win at the meet.

Art Stafford Jr. and Jason Thompson each had three wins on the card.
