Unusual Clarity Takes Vernon Feature; Warner Triples

Unusual Clarity

Unusual Clarity hung on by a nose to complete a gate-to-wire victory in the $10,417 featured fillies and mares conditioned pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Unusual Clarity darted out to the lead for Steeven Genois and was on top unhurried through early fractions of :27.1 and :57.1. Forgot Thewallet A (Tom Merton) came first-up to challenge as they headed to the final turn and was nose-to-nose with the leader at three-quarters in 1:25. Forgot Thewallet A faded coming into the stretch, passing the torch to Quarrel (Chris Long), who came charging late, but Unusual Clarity held on to win in 1:52.4. Bell Of Lazarus (Leon Bailey) finished third.

Unusual Clarity is owned by Nicholas Gibides and trained by Ron Harp. The 10-year-old daughter of Betterthancheddar-Circle Game is four-for-15 this season. She has now won 43 of 199 lifetime starts. She paid $16.06 to win.

Trainer Michelle Warner sent out three winners on the 12-race card. Her successful pupils were Parousia ($3.50), Miley Rose ($9.80), and Valor ($10.76). The conditioner has racked up 52 wins this season.

Chris Long was in the bike for each of Warner's wins and reached the winner's circle with Jesse McAssey's Two Star Magic ($6.88) for a grand slam.

Live racing continues at Vernon Downs on Friday, Oct. 3 with a post time of 5:05 p.m.
