Wind Blown Dazzles In Charlottetown Preferred

Wind Blown grabbed all the glory in a lightning-fast Preferred Pace on a lively Saturday, Sept. 27 card at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Wind Blown ($5.20) was all business in the $5,000 feature, going right down the road through fractions of :27.3, :55 and 1:23.4 to win in 1:52.1 for trainer Phil Sizer and driver Paul Langille. Nothing Bugs Me (Corey MacPherson) tracked from the pocket while T H Boomtown (Ken Murphy) completed the ticket.
Wind Blown, a son of Mach Three-Wind Warning, scored his fourth straight victory since returning to Prince Edward Island from the Ontario circuit for owners Doug Polley Sr., and Doug Polley Jr., of Amherst, N.S. The eight-year-old has now earned $382,419 and won 37 times in 152 lifetime starts.
Adam Merner authored a driving triple and a training double on the card. He started the roll with Doctor Grenfell ($6.80) from the Nicholas Oakes stable, parlaying a perfect stalking trip into a 1:55.2 new lifetime best in race eight. He came right back in race 10 with Imalookertoo ($6.50) in 1:57 and then capped the triple in race 11 when Maintenance Man ($9) swept to victory late in 1:54.4, both from his own barn.
In the third race, Dusty Lane Zoro ($12.80) popped the pocket and sprinted home in 1:54.2 to give 73-year-old Don MacNeill the fastest win of his driving career. The victory was also a new lifetime mark for the four-year-old son of Pang Shui-Dusty Lane Zendaya for trainer Ron Gass and owner Alexis Gass, who bred the horse alongside Shelley Gass.
