Nothing Bugs Me Favoured In Charlottetown Preferred

Harness racing at Charlottetown Driving Park

A five-horse Preferred 2 Pace with plenty of firepower will go postward on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 13-dash Saturday presentation has a 6 p.m. (ADT) post time, with the $5,000 Preferred feature lining up in race 12.

With the inside post, Nothing Bugs Me is the 5-2 morning line favourite with Corey MacPherson driving for trainer Vaughan Doyle and owner Chris Kelly. The four-year-old son of Custard The Dragon-You Know Nothing has been ultra-consistent all summer and arrives off a win in 1:54.2 chasing down Invitational pacer Roll Em over this very oval on Sept. 20, for win number seven of the campaign.

T H Boomtown (4-1) gets post two for the duo of driver Ken Murphy and trainer Ron Matheson. The four-year-old Captain Crunch-Ally Elizabeth gelding has flashed plenty of power this season, including a win in 1:53.3 at Woodbine Mohawk Park in the winter. Dr. Don Ling co-owns the 12-time winner with Wayne MacDougall.

The classy Rose Run X Con (7-2) will line up from post three with Brodie MacPhee handling the lines for trainer Nicholas Oakes and owner J D Racing. The six-year-old son of McArdle-Stirling Delilah has notched seven wins in his 2025 campaign including victories in his last two starts at Red Shores tracks.

Post four starter Sports Teller (6-1) brings value to the board for driver/trainer Adam Merner. The six-year-old Sportswriter-Donttellrus gelding has been a consistent cheque-getter, landing in the top three in 11 of his 21 seasonal starts. Rebecca MacLeod owns the pacer with Gabby MacNevin, Mike Arsenault and Joey Farrell.

Rounding out the compact but competitive field is the Phil Sizer-trained Wind Blown (3-1) from post five, to be driven by Paul Langille for owners Doug Polley Sr., and Doug Polley Jr. An eight-year-old Mach Three-Wind Warning gelding with nearly $380,000 in career earnings, he’s been razor sharp since arriving back in the Maritimes, winning back-to-back Summerside Preferred tilts.

The "Post Time Picks" gives the edge to Nothing Bugs Me from post one: “Nothing Bugs Me has the rail for the third consecutive week and reached up and snatched the victory away from a dandy in Roll Em last week, so if he gets a similar trip tonight, he could go back-to-back.”
