Wirelesscaller Rings Up Dayton Feature Win

Wirelesscaller took advantage of comfortable fractions and a perfect pocket trip to win the featured $24,658 conditioned claiming pace on Thursday, Sept. 25 at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.
When the field of 10 was sent on its way, the 3-5 bettors’ choice Rockinpoppin (Tyler Smith) quickly cleared to the lead in a :27.1 quarter. Wirelesscaller and Dragon Attack (Luke Hanners) battled for second, with the former getting the pocket and the latter being parked the whole mile. As the field went by the grandstand the first time, six horses were on the pylons and four were parked on the outside. Rockinpoppin held the lead past the half in :56.3 and three-quarters in 1:25.2, but Jeremy Smith found enough room at the top of the lane and was able to steer Wirelesscaller out and past the tiring leader by a half-length in 1:53.3. Handsome Sir (Chris Page) rallied for the show spot.
Antonia Storer trains winner, a four-year-old Bullville Powerful-Wf Bella stallion, for JMF Racing LLC. Wirelesscaller earned his 11th win in 85 career starts. He returned $15.20.
In a sub-featured $19,178 conditioned claiming pace, it was King Of Metal As (Page) who grinded out a 2-1/2-length score in 1:53.4. Page pulled the eventual winner off the rail before the half-mile station, and that early move forced Badger (Jeremy Smith) out of the third spot and provided some cover for King Of Metal As. The four-year-old Yankee Cruiser-Modesta Hall gelding found himself fourth at the top of the stretch but kicked home in :28.3 to secure the win. A pocket-sitting Westender (Tyler Smith) was second, and Mctorious held on for third. King Of Metal As is trained by Bob Stewart for Blue Dog Racing Inc.
Wirelesscaller was one of three winners on the night for Jeremy Smith. Chris Page also had a driving triple.
