Dyladmar Doubles Up; First Win For Johnson-Stafford

Dyladmar

Dyladmar's dominant victory last out wasn't enough to convince the bettors, but the gelding is likely to sport a lower price tag than 7-1 next time after another open-length win in the $24,657 Open Handicap Trot on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Harrington Raceway.

The five-year-old Muscle Hill-Sahalee gelding was sent to the front by Russell Foster and never looked back. He reached the point past the quarter in :28.2, went unchallenged through the half in :57.3 and three-quarters in 1:26.2, and he cruised to a 1:54.4 win by 3-1/4 lengths over Mickey Muscles (Ross Wolfenden). Speed Away (Corey Callahan) finished third.

Dyladmar has won seven of 17 starts this season for trainer Edwin Gannon Jr. and owner Dreamville Stable of Camridge, Ont. He is 13-for-57 lifetime with $225,921 in the bank. He paid $16.60 to win.

Stacy Johnson-Stafford earned her first career training win on the card as Art Stafford Jr. drove Navy Blue ($3.60) to victory in the second race. The six-year-old Anders Bluestone-Overnight Hit gelding, a former Delaware champion, won in 1:56.4 for his first victory since 2023. Johnson-Stafford made her training debut in August at Harrington with Always Ghostly. Her last three entrants have all hit the board, and the conditioner's record is now 9-1-1-1.

On the undercard, Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC’s Rivers ($4.80, Corey Callahan) was a 1:55.4 winner in the $19,863 Winners Over Trot for conditioner Nick Callahan. The win was the second of the season in 17 tries for the six-year-old Anders Bluestone-Stargazer Lily gelding.

Howard Taylor’s Bourbon Buzz ($2.40, Corey Callahan) won his fourth straight race, stopping the timer in 1:56.4 for trainer Tom Shay. The Muscle Hill-Cedarbluff Hanover three-year-old gelding has won five of 14 starts this year.

Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes action for two-year-olds will headline the Sept. 29-Oct. 1 week of racing at Harrington. The first of two rounds of eliminations will headline the week, and the top eight point-earners will return for the $110,000 USD finals on Oct. 13-15.
