Dayton Raceway Kicks Off 2025 Season

Oh Look Magic

Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway kicked off its 12th season on Tuesday, Sept. 23, and featured on the 14-race card was the $38,356 Open Trot.

Oh Look Magic, driven by Austin Hanners, delivered a dominant front-end performance. The Lookslikeachpndale-Miami Magic gelding surged from post two to take command early, posting fractions of :27.3, :56.2, and 1:23.3, before coasting home in 1:52.3 with a :29 final quarter. He crossed the wire 5-1/4 lengths clear of Sugar Instead (Sam Widger), with My Pal Sparky (Cameron McCown) another 1-3/4 lengths back in third.

The win was the third straight for Oh Look Magic, who came into the race off a one-month layoff. He is trained by Ron Burke for Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. The five-year-old is now 18-for-75 lifetime with $651,395 in earnings. He paid $4.80 to win.

Hanners and Chris Page both finished with driving triples on the night.

Dayton Raceway is preparing for a big weekend of racing. Friday night will feature seven $100,000 USD divisions of the Ohio Sires Stakes Gray Championships. Saturday’s card will have the four $250,000 USD Dayton Derbies and eight $300,000 USD Ohio Sires Stakes Scarlet Championships. Post time for both evenings will be 6:30 p.m.
