Boyd Wins Five On Tioga Closing Night

For the second year in a row, Braxten Boyd was the leading driver at Tioga Downs, and he punctuated his title-winning season with five victories, including the $20,548 Open Pace on closing night, Saturday, Sept. 20.
Livonjaxandqueens sat the pocket behind Typhoon Banner N (Greg Merton), who put up the early fractions of :26.4 and :56.4. Stonebridge Reef (Tyler Miller) was first to make a move as he went first-over going down the backstretch, chipping away at Typhoon Banner N through three-quarters in 1:24. Livonjaxandqueens ($5.16) left the two-hole and slugged it out with Typhoon Banner N down the lane, and Livonjaxandqueens got up to win by a quarter-length in 1:51.3. Comet Crusader N (Jim Pantaleano) finished third.
Livonjaxandqueens, trained by Jim Rothfuss, is a five-year-old American Ideal-Its De Lovely stallion. He has won 21 of 78 career starts for owner-breeder Howard Ouriel. The win was his sixth at Tioga this season, and he was named the track's 2025 Pacer of the Year for his efforts that included four place finishes and two thirds.
Boyd has had an incredible year all over North America and topped Tioga with 111 wins this season. His other wins on the card came with Scootnroll ($3.60), Meadowbranch Ricky ($5.54), Tom Swifty ($2.60), and Talbotcreekwhiskey ($5.10). Completing the top five in the standings were Tyler Miller (98), Mike Merton (75), Jim Pantaleano (73), and Ridge Warren (66).
Cameron Capone won his first training title at Tioga Downs with 54 wins this season. He is followed by Jeff Cullipher (49), Rob Harmon (36), Mike Deters (35), and three tied with 18 (Michelle Warner, Joe Skowyra, and Kevin Reynolds Jr.).
Capone trains Fashion Cantab, who was named the 2025 Trotter of the Year. The six-year-old gelding by Cantab Hall-Rule Of Hall had seven trips to the winner’s circle to go along with two seconds and three thirds at Tioga this year. He is owned by Jaypaul Hoover.
Rosey Time earned Claiming Horse of the Year honours. The eight-year-old Time To Roll-Spanish Rosey mare crossed the finish line first eight times this season with three seconds at Tioga in 15 starts. She is owned by Jeffrey Greenberg and trained by Reynolds.
The 2025 Groom of the Year is Frankie Bambrick.
