Gregory Sweeps Vernon Features

Jeff Gregory drove both $10,274 conditioned feature winners at Vernon Downs on Saturday, Sept. 20.
In the featured trot, Discus Hanover took the pocket as Lous Lancelot (John MacDonald) charged straight to the front and led through :26.2, :56.2, and 1:26.1 panels. As they reached the stretch, Discus Hanover ($4.86) popped out and battled with Lous Lancelot all the way down the lane, producing a final surge to win by a half-length in 1:54.4. Low Inside (Dan Daley) finished third.
Discus Hanover, an eight-year-old gelding by Credit Winner-Dancing Flames, tallied his 53rd career win in 165 starts and improved his earnings total to $387,065. He is owned by Philip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst.
Forgot Thewallet A and Gregory then took the distaff pacing feature in the next race. The Hunt Is On (Leon Bailey) was first to the quarter in :28.4 and half in :58. Forgot Thewallet A ($11.20) made her move first-up going around the final turn and struck the front at three-quarters in 1:26.1, and she cruised down the stretch to win in 1:53.3. Dizzy Lizzy (Ron Harp) was second, 2-3/4 lengths back. Bell Of Lazarus (Harry Landy) finished third.
Forgot Thewallet A is now 22-for-90 lifetime with $196,079 in the bank. Maria Rice trains the eight-year-old Heston Blue Chip-Tara Lassie mare for Dr. Michael Miller and Team Rice Racing LLC.
Gregory also got wins with My Girl Charlie ($5.62) and Ucanttouchthis ($9.60) for a grand slam. Bailey had a driving hat trick.
Vernon Downs will hold its next card of live racing on Friday, Sept. 26 with a post time of 3 p.m.
