Lookinlikeamillion Shines Saturday At The Loop
Lookinlikeamillion had things all his own way the $10,000 Four-Year-Old Stakes on Saturday, Sept. 20 at The Loop, taking the card's featured dash on a soggy afternoon session.
The 1/9 choice made the front for driver Richard Remillard, made four left turns while managing splits of :29.4, 1:01.3 and 1:33.4 over the offgoing and hit the wire more than seventh lengths the best in a time of 2:03.3. Irish Hawk (Clayton Braybrook) and Chocolate Bomb (Paula Mason) completed the order of finish.
Trained by co-owner Trevor Williams, Lookinlikeamillion (Armbro Baylor - Untold Millions) sports a 3-4-3 summary from 25 seasonal starts but hasn't missed the top three in five starts (2-2-1) since returning to Manitoba one month ago. Williams co-owns the 11-time career winner of $89,358 with Tara & George Isman of Gladstone, Man. and Garrett Isman of Calgary, Alta. The winner retuned $2.10 to win.
Saturday's card at The Loop also featured a pair of $6,100 Open events for pacers, with one for male entrants and one designated ladies only.
Chief Is Boss ($3.20) was a repeat on-the-engine winner, making every call a winning one for driver Marc Fillion as he did a week ago. After fractions of :30, 1:00.4 and 1:31.4, Chief Is Boss closed in :29.3 to trip the timer in 2:00.4.
Williams trains Chief Is Boss, a five-year-old son of Beren Hanover - Winters Luck, for owners Garrett Isman and Mike Williams of Winnipeg. Now on a three-race win streak, Chief Is Boss sports earnings approaching $87,000.
In the $6,100 Fillies & Mares Open, Nonversation ($6.10) forged first up for driver Remillard on a hard-used Hurry Home (Darryl Mason) to clear that rival after the three-quarter mark and cruise to victory in 2:02.2. Tina La Vida (Michel Rey) rallied for second ahead of favoured Tami Blue (Braybrook).
Tara Isman trains and co-owns Nonversation (Mystician - Say Anything) along with the driver and Jim Wilson of Regina, Sask. The five-year-old bay picked up her eighth win of the campaign — doubling her output from one year ago. She now sports 18 career wins with more than $107,000 in purses.
