Freshmen Face Off In Reynolds Stakes

Tioga Downs played host to the Reynolds Memorial freshman stakes on Friday, Sept. 19.
Watch Em Win won the $97,778 Reynolds Stakes division for two-year-old pacing colts in 1:52.3 to equal his lifetime mark. Driven by Jim Pantaleano for trainer Ron Burke, the Hes Watching-Winners Over colt took the lead with a lap to go and held off a late charge from Everlast Sting Deo (Matt Kakaley), who was disqualified for interference and placed sixth. American Pastime (Braxten Boyd) inherited second place and Ideal Rebel (Mike Merton) third. Watch Em Win has now won half of his six starts for owners Burke Racing Stable Llc, Knox Services Inc., Phil Collura and Weaver Bruscemi Llc.
Trainer/driver Ake Svanstedt swept a pair of $46,000+ divisions for two-year-old trotting colts with David Seaman S (Six Pack-Dreamgirl Hornline) prevailing from the pocket in 1:56.4 by 2-1/2 lengths over Titans Mischief (Matt Kakaley) for his second career win and Read The Room (Chapter Seven-Debra Hall) holding off Chapter Geo J (Brett Beckwith) and Mega Shark (Mike Merton) by a neck in a 1:57.1 maiden-breaking victory. Both colts are co-owned by Ake Svanstedt Inc., a partner on David Seaman S with breeder Stall Arsenal Ab and on Read The Room with Little E Llc, B Nasstrom Holding Inc., and Nils Munkhaugen.
Nuance, driven by Brett Beckwith for trainer Marcus Melander, defeated a pair of Svanstedt stablemates, Tindra Cash S (Svanstedt) and Modesty Blaise (Mark MacDonald), in the first of three $39,027 trotting filly divisions. Owned by Courant Inc., the Greenshoe-Hillarmbro filly earned her second career win, prevailing off a pocket trip by half a length in 1:56.4.
Sharp from her New York Sire Stakes Championship victory, Sharp Seven (Chapter Seven-Lookin Sharp) was the fastest of the trotting filly winners with a front-stepping score in 1:56.2 by 2-1/4 lengths with Jeff Gregory in the sulky. The George Ducharme trainee improved her record to 5-2-0 in nine starts and went over the $500,000 earnings mark for owner Purple Haze Stables Llc.
Cash Out Express gave Ducharme a stakes double, progressing from the backfield to win her division by half a length over late-closer R Ro (Jim Pantaleano) in 1:58.2 with Matt Kakaley at the controls. The daughter of International Moni-Maliziosa Lindy, now a two-time winner, is owned by George Ducharme Stable Llc, James De Armond, Jim Winske and Salvatore Vullo.
Live harness racing returns to Tioga Downs for closing night on Saturday, Sept. 20, with a post time of 6:15 p.m.
