Tyrone Bow Tie Dominant In Rideau Preferred

Tyrone Bow Tie made it a race for place as he collected his eighth victory in the Rideau Carleton Raceway $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot this year in a romp on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Once the gelding reached the top for Guy Gagnon, the rest was academic. He put up :29.1 and :58.3 first-half fractions before speeding away from his opponents by four lengths to a 1:25.4 three-quarters and cruising home to win by 5-1/4 lengths in 1:54.3. Rose Run Why Not (Pascal Berube) got by Raising Rusty (Stephane Pouliot) late for second.
The Mike Armstrong-trained Tyrone Bow Tie has not missed the board in his last nine starts, taking five Preferred wins in that span. Owned by Rachel Burns and Wade and Philip Tousignant of Cardinal, Ont., he is now nine-for-25 this year. The five-year-old son of Lookslikeachpndale-Risk Seeker has won 13 of 54 lifetime outings and has banked $120,691. He returned $2.30 as the 1-9 favourite.
