Huntress Wins Harrington Open Debut

Huntress

Huntress won her Harrington Raceway debut in the $25,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace on Tuesday, Sept. 16 with a 1:53 triumph over a sloppy racetrack.

Jett Propelled (Jason Thompson) cut the opening quarter in :27.4 before allowing Huntress to take control on the second turn. Disturbed Hanover (Barton Dalious) pulled out of fifth as they swung for the stands, followed by Incaseyoudidntknow (Jim Morand), and they advanced through the half in :56.1 to three-quarters in 1:24.3. Huntress maintained a comfortable advantage under confident handling from Allan Davis en route to her seventh win of the season in 15 starts. Jett Propelled finished second by a half-length, and Incaseyoudidntknow was third.

Huntress was making her first start for the Eric Ell barn and new owner Manklin Creek LLC. The well-travelled mare came to Harrington after starts in Ontario, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and New York this season. The six-year-old daughter of Huntsville-Love And Honor notched her 44th lifetime win in 97 attempts and upped her bankroll to $534,241. She paid $3.80 to win.

Jason Green had a driving triple on the 13-race card. Corey Callahan, Dalious, and Art Stafford Jr. each had doubles in the sulky.
